The most irritating thing about Dr. Seuss’s The Lorax is its title. The misbegotten new animated feature is somebody’s The Lorax, but Seuss’s? Not hardly. The movie does conform, in its broadest outline, to Theodore Seuss Geisel’s 1971 environmentalist parable, in which a reckless young entrepreneur ravages the natural world and then hides away, in grief and shame, in a hollow tree on the denuded landscape, where he’s tracked down by an inquisitive boy named Ted.

There’s a lovely stand-alone story embedded in the new Amazon series Forever. The bulk of the show is anchored by Maya Rudolph and Fred Armisen’s characters June and Oscar, a married couple who die and then find themselves in the afterlife, still facing the same relationship problems that beset them in life. In episode six, though, we return to the world of the living to follow two home realtors, Andre (Jason Mitchell) and Sarah (Hong Chau).
Nicki Minaj. This year’s Made in America Festival was embroiled in controversy before it even began: Its creator Jay-Z had a public war of words with Philadelphia’s mayor over whether or not the festival could remain at its usual location, the Benjamin Franklin Parkway (just beyond the Rocky steps), for another year or get run out of the city altogether. Ultimately, Jay won and the festival took over Philly for its sixth consecutive Labor Day Weekend.
