Prepare Ye, a Stephen Schwartz Documentary Approaches

Stephen Schwartz will be the focus of an upcoming documentary. I’ve heard it said that people come into our lives for … just kidding. (Will I be peppering this post exclusively with Godspell references because I grew up very Catholic and in this house we learn our lessons well? Yes, yes I will.) Stephen Schwartz, the man behind Godspell, Wicked, and a truly bananas-long list of other titles you know and love, is getting the documentary treatment.

Pretty Hurts Director Melina Matsoukas on Beyoncs Throw-up Scene and Casting Harvey Keite

For a brief moment, Melina Matsoukas was employed as Beyoncé’s creative director. Imagine that job? “It was on her last album, and it was a month and a half before I was like, You know what? I think I’m just going to go back to being a director,” she told us with a laugh over the weekend, less than 48 hours after Beyoncé dropped her surprise visual album, Beyoncé. “It was a very overwhelming and massive job, and because I was doing that, I wasn’t able to direct any videos.

Princes Baltimore Is a More Complex Kind of Protest Song

Sunday night’s live audio stream for Prince’s Rally 4 Peace concert at the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore — hosted for free by Tidal — went on the fritz about an hour into the show, but not before he played, for the first time in concert, his new song “Baltimore.” Released via SoundCloud on Saturday, “Baltimore” is a protest song about, among other victims, Freddie Gray, the 25-year-old black man who died after sustaining spinal injuries while in police custody in Maryland.

Princess Dianas Dance Partner Remembers Their Dazzling Uptown Girl Performance

Diana and Wayne Sleep, mid-moves. There are few moments of joy for Princess Diana to experience in season four of The Crown, but when they do arrive, they’re often tethered to music. She boogies down to Stevie Nicks with friends at a club, right on the cusp of being a paparazzi target; she roller skates to noted babes Duran Duran as she acclimates to her new palace digs; and, at the beginning of episode nine, she tries (and fails) to impress her husband, Prince Charles, by performing a contemporary dance routine to Billy Joel’s “Uptown Girl” in front of thousands of adoring Royal Opera House patrons.

Prosecutors Introduce Photo of Alec Baldwin Minutes Before Rust Shooting to Trial

Keeping up with Alec Baldwin. There’s new evidence incoming in the trial of reality star and house seller Alec Baldwin. Prosecutors filed documents on June 17 that claim Baldwin was engaging in unsafe behavior with guns throughout his time on the set of Rust. Trial is set to begin on June 10. The court documents submitted by prosecutor Erlinda Johnson introduce into evidence a photo of Baldwin in which Baldwin’s finger is “inside the trigger guard” and his thumb is on the gun’s hammer taken “minutes before” the 911 call about cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and director Joel Souza’s shooting.

Proud Hufflepuff Eddie Redmayne Bumblingly Defends His Hogwarts House

Eddie Redmayne, a Burberry sweater that an absentminded fairy charmed into human form, who stars in the upcoming Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, wants you to know that he’s a Hufflepuff, just like so many of the rest of us. That’s according to the fun little video above, in which Redmayne puts on his best awkward grin and tells you all about why Hufflepuffs are pretty great.

Pusha-T and Young Thug Are Beefing Over a Drake Diss on Pop Smokes New Album

Pop Smoke’s first album came out last Friday, a celebration of the late rapper’s short life with a stacked list of guests. Two guests you won’t see on that track list include Pusha-T and Young Thug, who are currently beefing over a song that was supposed to make the album because, well, nothing is sacred. Pop Smoke’s track “Paranoia” features Pusha, Thugger, and Gunna. Young Thug doesn’t want it that way, though, after finding out that Pusha-T’s verse disses Drake, who Pusha’s beefed with off and on since 2018.
