Mary Steenburgen is a sweetheart, and she often plays one — but not on Justified. In the FX drama’s final season, she’s Katherine Hale, a Kentucky crime boss’s vengeful widow who’s literally sleeping with the enemy, pot baron Avery Markham (Sam Elliott). “When I asked [executive producer] Graham Yost why he thought of me — since a lot of times, people only see me as playing nice people — he said, ‘Because I thought you could handle the humor of it,’” Steenburgen says.
From Master of None. Spoilers ahead for Master of None season two.
In the first episode of Master of None’s second season, Dev Shah wakes up in the quaint Italian town where he’s learning the art of making pasta. At his bedside is a stack of movies from the Criterion Collection, representing some of the classics of Italian art cinema: three by director Michelangelo Antonioni and three by Federico Fellini, plus Vittorio De Sica’s Bicycle Thieves.

“It’s so much pressure landing these shows, I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.” In the post-Golden Age of TV anti-heroes, it’s hardly surprising when a protagonist faces the consequences of their actions, especially when their show airs on the Home Box Office. But in Perry Mason, the iconic defense attorney played by Matthew Rys is a hero in the truest sense. Though sassy and antagonistic, the well-meaning Mason always sticks up for the marginalized and helpless, even if every other character in the show’s Depression-era Los Angeles would describe him as the absolute worst: a drunken murderer sympathizer.

Rachel Dolezal’s 15 minutes of fame have (thankfully) come and gone. But because many comedians — including Dave Chappelle — didn’t quite know what to make of her story, most refrained from poking fun at her expense. Maya Rudolph isn’t one of them. Since Rudolph can no longer use Saturday Night Live to scratch her impersonation itch, Seth Meyers provided both a forum and and a wig to get her into full #AskRachel character on Monday’s Late Night.
Maya Rudolph told Conan all about the Bridesmaids cast’s SAG Awards drinking game: drink every time someone says “Scorsese.” And that must happen a LOT at the SAG Awards (this is pure conjecture, of course. No one actually watches the SAG Awards). Those Bridesmaids gals, they know how to have fun. Scor-sessssse. I really hope Rudolph comes on Conan again in six months to tell him that that was her baby boy’s first word.
